A Message from Kaiser Leadership

Life support certification card renewal

1. Sign up for the appropriate class through Global Medical Response (GMR formerly NCTI) here and select the version of the certification you need to complete.

Please bring proof of current AHA ACLS/BLS/PALS card course completion.

    • Reminder: Textbook is required for all renewals to bring to class. Some locations may have books to loan. Please check with your local educator. The textbook is required as the testing process is open resource.
    • To purchase books, please visit https://shopcpr.heart.org/

2. When taking a Kaiser Permanente GMR American Heart Association (AHA) renewal course (BLS, ACLS, PALS), a current provider card is required to attend.

If you do not have a current card (your card is expired):

o  Attend a full provider course (not a renewal course). These may be purchased via the AHA or Red Cross HealthCare provider of your choice (please note, if you choose to pursue an American Red Cross course, your Red Cross card will not be accepted by GMR or AHA for your next renewal). https://gmrlearning.com/professional-education-2/#student/course-list

o  All these options will need to be paid for by the employee. You may be eligible for tuition reimbursement.

o   Refer to NCAL policy for more information.

           Resources for full provider courses:

o   If you are unable to find a copy of your card, you will not be able to attend class without the card.

o   Below are some suggestions for obtaining a copy of your card prior to class.

o   Login to the AHA My Cards Website and search for the digital copy of your card. This site allows you to look up your past cards using your email or the ecard number you were assigned. https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards

o   If you took your class with GMR Learning. Log into your profile and screen shoot your profile showing you attended and passed your course. Bring the proof with you to class.

o   If you took your class with another AHA training center, reach out the training center for the ecard number that they assigned to you. Use that number to look up your card using the “my ecard” site above. Bring the card with you to the class.

3. Present your completed card to your manager immediately for it to be recorded and validated in eSmartFile Manager and HRconnect.
